Water Restrictions in Pretoria

The drought that’s currently gripping large parts of South Africa is expected to get worse. KwaZulu-Natal and Free State have already been declared disaster zones. The situation is not likely to improve as below average rainfall is expected.

Residents of Pretoria have been asked to refrain from filling their swimming pools, washing their vehicles and watering their gardens between 06:00 and 18:00.

The City said it was implementing the water restrictions amid a water shortage in some areas caused by the ongoing heatwave. Rand Water, the country’s largest water distributor, says supply is under severe strain.

The water restrictions in pretoria would be implemented with immediate effect and would remain in place until further notice.
