A River Runs Through It
A big shout out to everyone that helped with the cleanup operation “A River Runs Through it” at the Hornblend Street Park in Elardus Park on Saturday 11 July 2015.
A River Runs Through It
A community project to develop the land on either side of the Apies River between Duniet street and Hornblend street, Elardus Park, to create a nature area for the use of the community, while also creating a green lung in the midst of the city. The piece of land is centrally located in Elardus Park. The Apies river runs through the middle of the green space and is used as a storm water channel during rainy seasons.
- The community plans to build walkways and bird hides, and, plant trees to encourage birds, aquatic and insect life.
- The City of Tshwane has committed to providing indigenous trees and shrubs for the community to plant. Les Weyer has arranged for the holes to by dug.
- Once the area is cleared of foreign vegetation and rubbish, these can may be commenced.
